Not really a sunset pic, but the sun was going to be going behind these clouds and not returning for the rest of the evening. I haven’t had much luck shooting directly into the sun before, but this one worked pretty well, I think. Weird: I just got a polarized filter earlier that afternoon, but I don’t remember if I had it on for this particular shot or not.
A friend is using this for a computer background. If you’d like one of a specific size, just let me know and I’ll get one to you.
Probably my last shot in this series, unless I decide to play around with some of the other ones later on. I’d like to turn this one into a an odd-sized print for my office wall.
This one will end up as an 8×10 at the grandparents house.
We stopped at an old Shell service station that I don’t think had been used in 50 years or so. This was in my hometown of Athena, Oregon, where I went to high school, and it was in this same exact condition when we moved there in 1983. It advertises that it services magnetos and provides full service for both “Ford and Chevrolet.”
Meet Tanner, my 13 year-old son. He was patient enough to let me take him around the county today and take his pictures at various abandoned and falling-down structures. We’re calling these his “Eighth Grade Portraits.” It sounded as good of an excuse as any to take pictures.
I’ll be posting some of my favorite shots over the coming days and weeks and inviting your comments and suggestions. After looking through other shots from this series, I have several questions myself, but I’ll wait to hear what you have to say. I’m doing his brother’s senior portraits in a couple of months.
